Chamong Tea Garden (also known as Chamu Tea Garden) is a village in Darjeeling's Jorebunglow Sukhiapokhri CD block. There was a chirpy bird in this area that the communities, the Lepchas, used to call "Chamoo," and the place was retitled Chamong as a result.
The British planters established Chaong Tea Garden in 1871. The Lohia Group purchased one of the first gardens in Darjeeling. Chamong Tea Garden has a cultivated area of 132 hectares (330 acres) out of a total area of 332 hectares (820 acres) at an altitude of 1,150 to 1,850 metres (3,770 to 6,070 feet) above mean sea level.
Chamong Tea Estate, nestled in the misty hills of Darjeeling, stretches over 900 acres of lush green land and houses a tea plantation, a tea factory, and a tea pickers' village. The majority of the land is forested, with a diverse range of flora and fauna.
